FISHING REPORT FOR FEB. 3RD 2012
Remember if you are
looking for a new portable fish house get on into the
store for the most competitive pricing in the area on
Otter Fish houses and ice augers. We carry a great selection so get on
in and talk to Kurt, Sarah, or Matt about a new house.
WALLEYE
The
walleye bite on Mille Lacs is still going strong. Try
using a Lindy Frostee
tipped with a minnow head on one line and on the other
use a bobber line with a small jig, like a Custom Demon
and a shiner/rainbow minnow. The mud flats are producing
the highest numbers of fish but use caution when
traveling accross the ice. There are still fish to
be caught on the break lines in Garrison Bay and St.
Alban's Bay but not like it was a month ago. Check
with the staff at Tutt's for the latest ice conditions.
PERCH
Look for perch
and Tullibee in the deep water off the edge of the mud
flats. The Tullibee fishing is very good and the
jumbo perch are turning on to. HALI Sukkula spoons
tipped with a wax worm are a great method for catching
Tullibee. Northland Blood Worms tipped with a
maggot and small Northland Macho minnows tipped with a
Crappie minnow or Fathead minnow are effective ways to
catch perch.
Panfish
For sunfish work the weed line
areas (8-12 feet of water)and for crappies look to find
them suspended off the bottom in 20-35 feet of water.
Some lures that have been hot as of late are Northland
Scud Bugs, and Gapens Ice N Ants or the Ratso or
Shrimpos have worked well too.. Remember to tip these
lures with a wax worm or crappie minnow for best
results. Some lakes that have been good as of late have
been Borden lake and South Long lake.
