Mille Lacs Fishing Report MAY 13
Leisure outdoor Adventures Guide Tim Hanske
opened on Mille lacs with his dad Steve and filed the
Fishing was Awesome! We caught big
walleyes and huge smallmouth on the north endaround
wealthwood. The key was to focus on small,
isolated rock piles. KenKatch 3D eye jigs in blue
and green definitely took the cake. Shiners were
the main bait of choice. The best depths for both
species was between 3-13 feet, and remember bass season
is Open on Mille Lacs only and stays open till walleye
closes. All other lakes are catch and release till
normal bass opener.
Here at Tutts we have had many
reports since the opener for walleyes caught!
The crappies are biting as well on area lakes Bay Lake,
Serpent, Smith all reporting nice sized crappies and
sunfish, using a Little Nipper or Flu Flu tipped with a
crappie minnow or a panfish leech.
